Box of Golf® History 101

Box of Golf® has been compared to Monopoly® more than once!

When Box of Golf® was first developed, many hours and a lot of energy was spent perfecting game play on our golf board game. Since Box of Golf® plays so much like real golf, we conducted focus groups of both golfers and non-golfers. We rounded up groups in different ages. We started by getting others opinions. We know that Box of Golf® is a great game, but we needed to know what others said. Take a look at some of the press this game has received in the last few years and you'll see that others like our game.

Box of Golf® can be played by the whole family. It can be enjoyed by those that play golf right alongside their loved ones that don't. It can be a family affair. OR, Box of Golf® can be played by the weekly foursome looking to extend their playing time. Forget going home to mow the lawn, pull out Box of Golf® in your 19th hole. Whether it is our Original Course or the famous Old Course at St Andrews Links OR your golf course customized to Box of Golf®, Saturday afternoons can include more golf!

After we spent the time perfecting game play, we moved into the manufacturing process. We've always made a quality product. Built out of hardwood, not cardboard, Box of Golf® is made with heirloom quality. You play right in the hardwood box, in fact, we've got a patent on our "press, lift, flip and slide" for changing from hole to hole...the box is part of the game. Hence, the name Box of Golf®. It is golf in a box called Box of Golf®.

We started manufacturing Box of Golf® in a nostalgic 100-year-old mill building in Easthampton, MA. We continue to maintain that facility for sales, order processing, manufacturing and shipping. We have daily pick-up from UPS to fulfill any orders coming in, as well as FedEx for those customers who prefer that carrier. During the peak of the 2005 holiday season, our facility was operating for 15 hour days to ship product. We brought in containers from the Orient, as well as continued to manufacture in our facility.

Our sales team is comprised of independent sales reps. We are looking for additional reps that have their own customer base in the gift, game and golf industries. Box of Golf® is the new game in town and retailers all around the USA are looking for the "next thing". Box of Golf® is it.

We've been told that we are a "one product line". We don't agree. We have our game (in its different versions and courses), the image of our oil painting done exclusively for Box of Golf® by David M. Bowers for the cover of our game which is now available as a print rolled or framed and we are in the development stages of other items, including furniture, with that same Box of Golf® image. So our line is developing and we are expanding.

In 2005, Box of Golf® received substantial placement in retail stores throughout the USA, as well as being available through catalogs and on the internet. Some of the retailers that have stocked Box of Golf®, both chain-wide and individual stores, are The Bombay Company, PGA Tour Superstore, Dick's Sporting Goods, Parisians, Marshall Fields, Bloomingdales, Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy, Mori Luggage & Gifts, Brunswick Home & Billiards, Nevada Bob's Golf, Roger Dunn Golf Shops, and Hallmark. Catalogs that have selected our product for inclusion are Norm Thompson, Frontgate, Bits and Pieces, T. Shipley, Sporty's and Maritz Rewards. As far as internet resellers, we've been very successful with thegolfcollection.com, golfcellar.com, massbaytrading.com, bcgolfguide.com, caddybytes.com, northwestgifts.com and target.com. We're just getting started with our distribution out to the retail world and it sure is a large world to conquer.

We're EDI compatible through DI Central. We're capabable of receiving purchase orders electronically, sending ASNs and invoices through EDI, as well as printing required UCC-128 labels. We've dealt with many of the major carriers, including Yellow Freight, NewPenn, NRT (National Retail Transportation), Overnight Transportation, Golden Carriers and BAXGlobal.
