Last Word: Game On

It's hard to beat old-fashioned parlor games for pure nostalgia. From a customizable version of Monopoly to a raucous party-in-a-box, these games will reward them with fun.

Box of Golf

Any serious duffer would certainly rather tote a set of clubs than roll a pair of dice, but when weather or location prohibits making a tee time, this game should tide them over. It comes in a hardwood box that can have a brass plaque attached. The rules are fairly complex, but anyone who loves the real thing will love that Box of Golf simulates everything from club selection to bunkers, water hazards and sloped greens. Box of Golf can create a game for any course, or build a fantasy course combining top holes. That's the idea behind "18 of the Finest Holes—Troon Golf," an edition that features holes at Troon-managed courses from Minnesota to the Bahamas. Prices start at $30, www.boxofgolf.com.
